DIY LV Puppet Sweater
I was scrolling through instagram one day when I saw these pictures of Wendy WIlliam’s wearing the most ridiculous sweatshirt with stuffed animals all over it. My first thought was, okay that’s actually kind of cool, but come to find out, I’m just way out of the loop and she was actually poking fun at this $8,000 Louis Vuitton Sweater from their February runway show. While the original version boasts a merino wool base and features 14 crocheted puppets, I was aiming for something closer to Wendy’s look with my own version.
I thrifted some beanie babies, grabbed this sweatshirt and these stuffed minis off of Amazon, and used an entire pack of safety pins from the dollar store. I didn’t create a full tutorial for this one as it was sort of a joke, but all I did was place the larger stuffed animals first, and then fill in with the smaller ones, safety pinning everything securely from the inside. Since the bag of beanie babies I found at the thrift store included some of the mini’s (remember the ones that came with McDonald’s kids meals back in the day that people would lose their minds over?) I made Maisy a matching outfit using this doggy shirt and the same technique. I mean, how could I not?
This DIY was a fun one— fashion is supposed to be fun! You can’t always take yourself too seriously. What do you think? Would you wear this out and about? Would you rather pay the $8k for the original? Leave a comment and let me know!
